Green Goddess avocado lime face and hair mask recipe

Avocado: a trusted and speedy feel-good snack by itself, it’s also been the main actress in smoothies lately although admittedly it still intimidates me. I do think it’s fabuloso mashed on toast, with a drizzle of sriracha.

Avocado is packed with vitamins, amino acids and minerals, no wonder it’s so good for you. And that good stuff makes it great for your body, also makes it great for your skin and hair.

Benefits of the Green Goddess hair mask:

nourishes
moisturizes
stimulates hair growth
adds shine
and revitalizes tired uncooperative hair

Using only three all natural ingredients: lime, avocado and coconut oil,  this mask leaves your hair luscious and smooth, like you’ve spent hours being pulled at in a salon.

Bye bye frizzy-wild-won’t-cooperate hair, hello hair that just falls beautifully without needing any styling products or extra effort. Full recipe below.

Benefits Green Goddess face mask:

fights the signs of aging

Green Goddess Avocado Face and Hair Mask Recipe

Green Goddess face and hair masks recipes

Ingredients:

1 large ripe avocado
2 tbsp of fresh lime juice
1 tbsp of  good quality coconut oil / extra virgin olive oil / almond oil
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
water for pureeing, how much you need depends on how ripe the avocado is

Instructions:

Puree the avocado in a blender, add water if you need to. I ended up adding 5 tbsp of water to the avocado so that it would puree. One large avocado yields about 2 cups of avocado puree. This is enough for two face masks and one hair mask.

For the Green Goddess Hair Mask:
Mix 1 cup of avocado puree with
1 tbsp of fresh lime juice
1 tbsp of coconut oil

For the Green Goddess Face Mask:
Mix 1/4 cup avocado puree with
1 tbsp of lime juice and
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

You can prepare the masks in the morning and store them zip lock bags or something in the fridge until ready to use. It will keep for up to three days in the fridge, let them come to room temperature before applying.

How to apply Green Goddess Hair Mask:
apply mask on either wet of dry hair
saturate hair with as much mask as possible
gather your hair and put it in a high bun
wrap hair with a plastic bag and secure with bobby pins
let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing out, shampoo as usual. Finish off with a little bit of conditioner for extra body.

How to apply Green Goddess Face Mask:
start with a clean face
steam your face to open up pores
apply a generous layer of mask
let sit for 20 minutes
rinse, and pat dry
