Two homemade all natural scrubs to help lively up your skin for skin that’s moisturized, silky smooth and glowing all day long.
Coconut oil and local honey to bring on the moisture. Sea salt and brown sugar exfoliate the skin.
Sea salt has relatively small granules and is high in minerals. When used as a scrub it purifies the skin, lets the skin breathe easier, increases blood circulation, leaving you with soft glowing skin.
Obviously sea salt kicks ass, but it can be too strong on the face, so we use brown sugar as a base instead which is gentler.
Brown sugar has glycolic acid which protects the skin against toxins, conditions and moisturizes the skin all in one. But, it doesn’t have the minerals found in salt. So, to get the best of both we need to compromise. We added just a teaspoon of the sea salt scrub in our sugar scrub. The salt will melt, giving us its benefits but in a gentle way. Perfect! See recipes below.
Sea salt – coconut oil body scrub recipe
1 cup sea salt
1/2 cup coconut oil
1 tsp Himalayan rock salt (optional, for added minerals)
1 tbsp whole rosemary leaves (optional)
combine all ingredients in a container (tupperware)
save one teaspoon to added to the sugar scrub
use as is, or if you prefer a thicker texture, place in fridge for 30 min.Don’t freak out if you forget it in the fridge (it will become a block of salt), just let it come to room temperature and it will become usable again
makes enough for about 3 scrubs.
Brown sugar – honey face scrub recipe
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp local honey
1/2 tsp Sea salt coconut oil body scrub
Combine all ingredients in a container. Makes enough for about 5 scrubs.
Apply on dry or wet skin, I prefer wet skin.
The scrubs may feel oily at first but avoid using soap afterwards, it’ll strip away the oil. Just rinse off and pat dry. The coconut oil will be quickly absorbed by your skin, healing and moisturizing it, leaving you with glowing luscious skin.
