So, it’s Saturday morning and we just finished having a cup of coffee. Outside is cloudy, but my weather app says “sunshine with a chance of cloudy”.
I think: “Yay“.
Then, my husband says: “I’ve got a surprise for you. We have to go get it and wear sneakers”.
Uhm, say whah do whah now?
And it’s a good thing hubby didn’t tell me where we were going and what we were doing cause I would have said “hard pass“. Stupidly.
That’s how I got to experience my very first, very American, corn maze at Exploration Acres in Indiana .
It was more fun than I would have thought. It was legit fun.
Exploration Acres: A brief history
Exploration Acres you can test your orientation in a straw bale maze, or in an 18-acre (!!!) corn maze with over 8 miles of twists and turns (the largest corn maze in northwest Indiana!)
They also have a pedal car race, a three-ear corn cannon salute and a mound of hay that looked like it’s for kids only, unfortunately.
They also had food trucks (one of which had amazing pulled pork tacos), a lemonade stand, a cute little country style shop, and fresh kettle corn.
Get more info on their website Exploration acres.
I was excited to see this guy… he’s very popular worldwide. He’s dressed for all kinds of weather.
Did you know there’s a design to the maze? Well, I had NO IDEA. That’s pretty cool. This was one of the few times I wish I had access to a helicopter.
There’re also milestone posts at random points in the maze. When you reach one you’re supposed to punch a whole in your map and I think you earn points or something at participating stores.
We didn’t do any of that. We just walked around in the gentle sun, with a gentle breeze and admired the creative work around us.
And creative it was. Definitely a Saturday well spent.
Of course all the corn made me think of food. Come back to find out what I come up with.
